Introduction

This was my third trip with work to the FLorida Keys. Birding was reserved for a couple of hours after dawn before breakfast and fieldwork each morning when I cycled to the brackish lagoon on East Shore Drive then on to the small freshwater pool on Katherine Street. Additional sightings were made during the fieldwork as we kayaked through the mangroves. What follows is a list of casual observations. A birder with more time could discover more fall migrant species on Summerland Key at this time of year.
