 Mediterranean Gull  Larus melanocephalus

Calls from a group of six adults flying from the marshes to the River Thames.

A short, nasal, rising then falling cat-like yow.

This species is becoming a regular feature here in early spring - high flying adults, mainly in pairs.

Single note calls from adults and immatures perched on a pier. Lower frequency nasal elements from adults and higher frequency, piercing squeals from 1st-winter individuals.
