Calling song/stridulation from a male Rufous Grasshopper (Gomphocerippus rufus) in calcareous grassland on chalk downland at 82 metres.

Fairly loud, rough/grating buzzing (8 elements/sec at ~28°C) rapidly increasing to maximum volume, repeated in bursts of up to 7 seconds. This individual repeating strophes up to four times per minute. Most numerous orthopteran at this site.
