Introduction This was a family break for our seven-year-old's birthday to Bluestone National Park Resort in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The focus was on relaxation, fresh air and birthday celebrations. Compared with Center Parcs sites, the forest around the lodges is less mature but still held common woodland birds including Nuthatch, Goldcrest, Great Spotted Woodpecker and Jay. Tawny Owls were vocalising throughout the night. There are three walking trails through mature woodland from the adjacent ravine and here we found Siskin, Lesser Redpoll, Bullfinch, Marsh Tit, Treecreeper, Brambling and Sparrowhawk among the commoner birds.
